The last couple of weeks…

Well it’s that time of year for us photographers… spring is well and trully here (in fact I think we moved right on to summer!) and the wedding season is upon us. Every weekend now I get to hang out with a new couple and have the privilege of documenting their special day.

So let me backtrack to 2 weekends ago… It was Lisa and Shane’s turn to tie the knot on the 29th of September. They chose the beautiful O’Reilly’s Vinyard to celebrate the occasion in fine style. We started out getting some pics of the girls getting ready at a lovely Guest House in Mt Tamborine, where despite the tranquility, Lisa was feeling a little nervous… Then it was off to catch up with the boys at O’Reilly’s to see how the preparations were going. Thanks to a couple of beers, it was all going according to plan. After a teeny delay, the ceremony went without a hitch. It was a beautiful setting by the stream with the sun low in the sky behind the trees as Lisa and Shane said their vows. They seemed to relax quite a bit after the ceremony for some lovely shots around the vinyard.

The next day (30th September) it was off to the Botanic Gardens in the city to witness the marriage of Melissa and Craig. The morning started out with the guys getting ready… ironing shirts (yes I have photographic evidence – men CAN iron!!) and getting into their suits… and a lot of shots of Craig looking super calm (and very dashing). Then we headed off to the Treasury Hotel to see if the rumour of Melissa’s pink dress and big hat was true… luckily not! She looked amazing in her gorgeous white gown and veil… We had fun photographing the girls around the very styish hotel – mmm great staircase! And then it was off to the Gardens. The beautiful ceremony was held by a little pond, complete with violins and champane. After getting some lovely shots around the gardens, we headed over to Two restaurant for a couple of pics, and to check out the cake and the room – perfect. After lots of smiles and laughter (I don’t have too many shots of Melissa and Craig looking serious…!) we headed over to the Storey Bridge for a couple of evening shots, and then it was time for the reception to start.

If all that didn’t keep me busy enough, I also managed to squeeze in a couple of family portraits too. Sally and Susan are sisters, and both asked me recently if they could get some family photos done. So here is a little selection of what we came up with at Roma Street Parklands…

First Sally’s kids – James, Emily, Thomas and Annabel…

Then last week I caught up with Susan and Scott and the kids, again at Roma Street.
